Political asylum is the protection that the United States provides to other countries citizens if they prove in court that they are being persecuted in their country of origin for their political views, race, religion, sexual orientation, or membership in a persecuted social group.

Where?

You must be in the United States to apply for political asylum. It would seem much more convenient to come to the US Embassy in your city and ask for asylum there. Still, if you do, they’ll just tell you something like: “Now you need to go to the United States.”

How?

There are two main ways to get to the United States.

Option 1: get a tourist visa. It’s a gentle way to move. You should not have any delays in staying in the United States or being deported in the past. Once you enter the United States, you can already apply for political asylum.

Option 2: through Mexico. It’s illegal. The border guards will most likely take away your documents. If you are a family with children, you will stay at the reception (boarding house) only from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The husband will be imprisoned separately, and the wife with children. Don’t be afraid, you won’t die. You just get a new experience. After that, you will be released to your sponsor.

Who?

You definitely need a sponsor!

The sponsor is a person who will be your proxy until your immigration file is reviewed by the court. . He should keep an eye on you from the very beginning of your stay in the United States. The border guards will call him and ask if he knows you. He will send you a message from the “receiving structure”.

Application for asylum

Before your first court visit, you must submit an application on form I-589 for asylum. In fact, you have a year to deposit it, but it is beneficial for you to do this as soon as possible. Still, you don’t have to fill it yourself. First, you need excellent document translation, and second, legal literacy. I-589 is at the heart of your case, and if you write even a word, it will be difficult for a lawyer to help you in court.

In response to Form I-589, you will receive Form I-797, with which you can verify your legal status at any institution. You will need to be fingerprinted using this form, and since then you have been a legitimate political asylum seeker.
